Monica Taylor - Art of the Song Coffeehouse Podcast

Welcome to the Art of the Song Coffeehouse Podcast, formerly known as The Standing "O" Project Singer/Songwriter Podcast.

This week our guest is Monica Taylor. We’d been going to the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in Okemah, Oklahoma for five years, and this year, Monica was at the top of our list of folks we wanted to interview. Katie Mitchell, our chief community builder made the trip and sat in for the interview. Monica Taylor epitomizes what we’ve come to know and love as the Oklahoma “Red Dirt” sound, and it was great to hear her stories exactly what that is and how it got started. We had some interesting questions from the audience including an unexpected visit by art of the Song alum, Ellis Paul!

Birds of Chicago - Art of the Song Coffeehouse Podcast

Welcome to the Art of the Song Coffeehouse Podcast, formerly known as The Standing "O" Project Singer/Songwriter Podcast.

Our guests this week are JT Nero and Allison Russell, together known as Birds of ChicagoDefying categorization, their brand of rock and roll poetry centers around the vocals - Nero's fractured country soul croon and Russell's smooth tones create a harmony blend that’s truly captivating. There sound is like a full tilt revival - streamlined poems, deep grooves, sharp hooks and joyful singing straight from the heart. We spoke with JT and Allison in our Albuquerque studios.
